Spacious EV does everything taxi drivers need it to

MG5 Long Range Electric Vehicle

Patons Taxis is thrilled to be able to help operators make the switch to greener motoring after delivering the latest long-range EV to a client.

As the 2030 deadline for the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles approaches, many taxi operators want to be ahead of the curve and have already started to establish their EV fleets. This gives them time to find out exactly what works and react to changing needs and trends so that they are not rushing and under pressure to make the switch at the last minute.

The Take Me Group has been switching to EVs as part of its drive to create a “synergistic group of taxi companies who can work hand in hand” for a better future.

And Patons Taxis sales manager Jamie Ludwig recently had the pleasure of handing over another new fully electric MG5 Exclusive Long Range to the Take Me Group in Malton, North Yorkshire.

Jamie said: “At Patons Taxis, we are committed to helping clients with the transition to more environmentally friendly and sustainable vehicles.

“Technology is constantly improving to help increase the range of electric vehicles, which is key for taxi work. As well as the extended battery, the MG app means drivers know exactly how much charge they have left and helps them schedule charging, which is what taxi drivers need.

“It is a pleasure, as always, to help Take Me with the transition to electric.”

Take Me has chosen an ideal vehicle for taxi work. The MG5 EV Long Range is an estate car with plenty of room for four passengers as well as luggage. And what it has in practicality is matched in comfort, with heated leather-style seats available among the options.

The 2023 model is the second generation of MG’s multi award-winning fully electric estate car, boasting up to 250 miles of range, and offering up to 1,367 litres of boot capacity.

Features include a 10.25″ colour touchscreen, MG iSMART user app for monitoring vehicle status and scheduling charging.

With safety always top of the list for taxi drivers and their passengers, the Pilot Advanced Driver Assistance System features Active Emergency Braking with Pedestrian and Bicycle Detection, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning System, Traffic Jam Assist, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, Intelligent High Beam Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control.

These sophisticated systems help keep drivers, their cars and passengers safe, especially in situations in which they only have a split-second to react.

Another feature that is proving popular with taxi drivers is the MG iSMART app. The technology allows drivers to control many functions including charging, checking the vehicle status, finding the nearest charging point, as well as pre-starting the climate control to cool or heat the MG5 EV so it is at the perfect temperature when passengers get in.

Patons has more than 50 makes and models of vehicles which have been specifically chosen for taxi and private-hire work. We currently have two very-low-mileage MG5 EV Long Range with finance packages available to help drivers make the switch to fully electric taxis.

Jamie said: “We have a variety of EVs to suit all aspects of taxi work, from smaller crossovers and hatchbacks to larger estates and 4x4s.

“There is also a good selection of hybrids and petrol and diesel cars for those not quite ready to make the switch.”
